Ms. Nana Amoah is AGRA’s Director of Gender, Youth,
and Inclusiveness (GYI). Nana brings 15+ years of
experience in strategic planning, inclusive economic
development, and institutional capacity building across
sub-Saharan Africa. Her versatile skill set and dedication
to driving impactful initiatives targeting women and youth
across the economic development landscape in sub-
Saharan Africa underscore her academic background with
a M.A in International Political Economy (University of
Kent) and B.A in Economics (Mount Holyoke College,
USA).
In this role, Nana leads the strategy development process
to provide quality advisory services to AGRA and country
teams towards incorporating gender and youth into
programs and activities. Her remit includes playing an integral role in strategy and
program management, all GYI interventions, and monitoring impact in all AGRA’s
countries of operation. To achieve this, Nana orchestrates collaboration between the
newly established GYI unit, business lines, and country program delivery to integrate a
gender and youth-lens programming approach, embed women (including young
women) in markets through the VALUE4HER pathway, and build AGRA's institutional
capacity.
Prior to joining AGRA, Nana served as the Senior Advisor to the Executive Director of
CORAF where she counseled senior leadership on strategic partnerships and private
sector engagements. She holds a stellar track record, leading regional and country
portfolio program implementation with USAID-West Africa funding and UN-WFP
humanitarian field operations centered on crafting resilience building and youth and
women-empowerment initiatives across Africa. Nana’s experience providing business
development support to local SMEs, RECs, national governments launched her into
fulfilling an entrepreneurial promise of her own. She founded a management consulting
firm based out of Ghana that provides support in strategy and operations, sustainability
planning, women and youth economic empowerment for organizations and businesses
in West Africa with a focus on attracting private sector investment and to transform
Africa’s food system and agri-science industry.
Nana's bilingual prowess in French and English along with exceptional stakeholder
engagement skills, position her to elevate AGRA as a knowledge and thought leader in
delivering on gender, youth, and inclusiveness across the food system. Her academic
prowess, complemented by her participatory leadership approach, underpins her
commitment to championing AGRA's institutional readiness for gender and youth-
responsive programming and refining the tools necessary to ensure AGRA’s investment
priorities are inclusive.
