Mr. Jerry Glover
Director, USAID
Jerry Glover, a National Geographic Society Explorer and Acting Director for USAID's Center for Agriculture, is dedicated to developing innovative and sustainable strategies for smallholder farmers worldwide. Holding bachelor's degrees in soil science and philosophy, along with a PhD in soil science from Washington State University, Jerry has conducted extensive research on diverse farming systems, including no-till, perennial, organic, and integrated approaches. His work has been widely recognized, with features in National Geographic, Scientific American, and Nature, where he was named one of "five crop researchers who can change the world." Beyond his scientific contributions, Jerry has also made significant efforts to engage the public, notably curating the U.S. Botanic Garden's exhibit "Exposed: The Secret Life of Roots" in Washington, D.C. He is an Elected Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Society of Agronomy, the Soil Science Society of America, and the Crop Science Society of America.
